CHP Turns Five
Nina Morrison, Casting Consultant
“a few images, notes:
- getting a text before the start of Run the Maze, Burn the Maze [rehearsals] that says “Is it okay to start in the middle????”
- attending a CHP Forum on the current state of downtown/off-off-off Broadway theater and having a very lively and interesting discussion punctuated by Barnett [Cohen] loudly groaning and banging his head on the table
- watching Rebecca’s development in the audition process, going from a director who did not ask the actors to do anything or give adjustments to a director who had formulated a whole strategy for what to ask and when to ask it and why those questions were important
- audition notes that included Erin's impressions of the actor's demeanor, punctuality
-watching the company develop from a few friends talking about a play to a well-reviewed institution with a website, a solid history, developed relationships with a couple of theaters and MERCH!
overall description of CHP:
- inspiring optimism, resilience, organization, and ambition
- relentless hard work
- total dedication to the company’s vision”
